WEEKEND ROUND UP: OCT 15TH / 16TH

First Team Defeated In The FA Cup...

Wanderers hopes of making the FA Cup 1st round proper will have to wait for another season after Marc White's side were defeated at the 4th Qualifying Round stage on Saturday afternoon by Eastleigh, 1-3. After a scrappy opening forty-five minutes, Dan Gallagher ensured Wanderers took a 1-0 lead into the interval, heading home Bobby-Joe Taylor's free kick in first half stoppage time. Tristan Abrahams restored parity shortly after the break as Wanderers failed to clear their lines, and despite taking further command of possession in the second half, two counter attacking goals put the tie to bed entering the final twenty minutes; Ryan Hill and substitute Danny Whitehall grabbing the goals as The Spitfires booked their place in Monday evening's draw.

Wealdstone are the visitors to Meadowbank next weekend as National League action return's, and following back-to-back defeats in all competitions and the disappointment of exiting the cup, Wanderers will no doubt be looking to get back into the winning habit ahead of local fixtures against Woking and Aldershot still to come in the month of October.

Ladies Begin Defence Of Capital Cup...

Winners of the Capital Cup competition last season, the Wanderers Ladies began their defence on Sunday with an emphatic 6-0 victory over Badshot Lea at Meadowbank. The Ladies will now face Reigate away in the next round of the competition, with date and time of fixture to be confirmed in due course.

After defeating Richmond & Kew and Eastbourne United in the previous rounds, the Ladies continue their FA Cup journey this Sunday at Meadowbank, facing Selsey in the 3rd qualifying round in a 15:30 kick off. Tickets are priced at £5 for Adults, £3 for Consessions & U18s and Free for U8s, show your support for the Ladies this weekend as they look to get into the 1st round proper!

Academy Players Make Debuts For The B Team... Rhys Barker's Wanderers B team travelled to Sussex on Saturday afternoon to face Arundel FC in league action. The hosts scored a penalty just past the hour mark to secure a narrow 1-0 win, Wanderers unlucky not to come away with more from the game after Ben Aubrey hit the bar and Trevor Caborn and Romeo Rowe also went close. A real positive from the game was a number of Wanderers Academy players making their debuts, with goalkeeper Blake Williams and defender Cade Casselman starting the game and midfielders Bailey Farrer and Zeph Soetan coming off the bench in the second half, all making positive contributions throughout the match. The B team are back on the road next Saturday as they travel to Shoreham in a 3pm kick off.

Academy Fixtures...

Our academy players will return to their sides for league action this week, with the Academy 'A' team travelling to Eastleigh on Tuesday for a 2pm kick off, and the Academy 'B' side hosting Dartford Reds at Meadowbank at the same time.
