WEEKEND ROUND UP: NOV 12TH / NOV 13TH
A round up of how the Wanderers teams got on over the weekend plus new updates...
Wanderers First Team Defeated In Essex...
Following on from their midweek draw against Torquay United, the Wanderers first team were back on the road on Saturday to face an in-form Southend United side at Roots Hall. Marc White had to contend with late losses in personnel heading up to Essex as Josh Taylor and Nicky Wheeler were ruled out after picking up knocks in midweek, with Seb Bowerman also remaining sidelined and James McShane a late withdrawal from the squad due to his partner going into labour. There were boosts at the back though as captain Barry Fuller and Isaac Philpot both returned from injury, on an afternoon where recent signing Archie Procter would make his first start in a Wanderers shirt.
An early penalty scored by Shrimpers man of the match Jack Bridge and a header just past the half-hour mark by defender Shaun Hobson proved enough for an organised Southend side to extend their unbeaten run in the league to 11 games, Jack Jebb going closest for Wanderers striking the inside of the post later in the first half. It's now one win in the last seven games for Marc White's side and the manager will be eager to end November well with home games against Bromley this coming Saturday and York City the following weekend coming up either side of the recently re-arranged away trip to Halifax Town, which is now scheduled to place next Tuesday November 22nd.

Ladies Avenge Only League Defeat So Far...
After a run of fixtures across the various cup competitions over the past several weeks, the Wanderers Ladies returned to league action on Sunday afternoon hosting Sport London E Benfica at Meadowbank. The Ladies were last in league action back on September 25th, and it was actually the reverse fixture against E Benfica, who edged a 3-2 win on the day and consigned Wanderers to a first league defeat of the campaign. Very much looking to avenge the loss on their return to league action, the Ladies went on to win emphatically as hat-tricks from strikers Cherelle Khassel and Gemma Shepherd ensured a 6-2 victory.
Behind the other teams in the league on games played so far, the Ladies have won 4 of their 5 matches and are currently 4 points behind leaders Brentford who have played 3 more games at this stage.
Next Sunday the Ladies attention switches back to the defence of their Capital Cup as they travel to face Reigate Women in the second round of the competition in a 2pm kick off.

B Team Make It Three Straight Wins...
Ruben Gaspar's first game in charge of the Wanderers B team ended with victory as second half goals from Jack Saunders, Matt Hay and Mark Soares secured a 3-2 win at Meadowbank on Saturday afternoon. Oakwood came back into the game very late on with two goals at the end of normal time, but the Wanderers held out to make it 3 straight league wins, propelling them to 4th in the league table, 5 points off top spot but having played a couple games more. Ruben's side hit the road next Saturday as they travel to face Montpellier Villa in a 3pm kick off.
Two of Saturday's goalscorers, Jack Saunders and Matt Hay, are part of the Wanderers Academy and are likely to be back in action this Wednesday afternoon as the U19 'A' side host Oxford City in a 2pm kick off at Meadowbank.
