Dorking Wanderers Ladies 6 Watford Ladies Development 0

Sunday 12th September, Meadowbank Stadium, 3:30pm

The ladies team got back to winning ways with a convincing and confident performance against Watford Ladies Development.

From the start Dorking were on front foot, and playing out from the back well, with Sarah Chapman and Hannah Thomas both going close in the opening stages. Watford were struggling to create anything in the final third, but a wayward pass at the back after 15 minutes allowed their striker time and space to get a shot away, but the effort did not challenge Jenna Morris in the Dorking goal.

Dorking deservedly took the lead 5 minutes later when defender Charlotte Crook reacted quickest after a corner and fired the ball high into the net. Charlotte Keenan was then unlucky not to have made it 2-0, when she superbly got across her marker and headed an inch perfect cross from Bianca Underhill onto the cross bar. It looked to have crossed the line on the way down, but the referee waved away the protests. Soon after though Dorking did double their lead, when Sarah Chapman weaved into space on the edge of the box and place the ball into the bottom corner. On the stroke of half time, Tanya Dady made it 3-0 when she rose highest at the back post to head home Kirsty Mulcahey’s corner.

Into the second half and Dorking started it as they ended the first, with Charlotte Keenan getting a deserved goal in the 49th minute to get her second goal in 2 games. Dorking kept the pressure on, and on 58 minutes Sarah Chapman fired home a powerful drive from the edge of the box to get her second of the game, before completing her hat trick in the 68th minute.

Watford kept their spirit up as the game drew towards the close and had a couple of half chances in the final 20 minutes, but Dorking defended well and earned themselves another clean sheet to go with the 3 points.

A fantastic game in front of our highest number of fans this season.
