Local Academy Youngsters Earn 1st Team Squad Numbers
Dorking Wanderers FC have announced today that First Team Manager Marc White has given local promising youngsters James Dickson & George Membrillera positions in the newly announced 2020/2021 squad, with both youngsters receiving squad numbers following impressive performances in season 2019/20, including minutes for the first team in the memorable FA Trophy victory at National League club Stockport County.
White commented “James and George have joined an exceptional squad this season. They are very talented lads, and whilst they have a lot of development to do, they are definitely in the right place. If they show willingness to learn and improve their game, they will be a great asset to the club, and we will look to give them as many opportunities as their efforts deserve, both in and outside of the club. Best of all they are both local and great boys to work with”.
Jordan Clark, Director of Football at Dorking Wanderers, said: “It’s fantastic to see another group of Academy graduate’s go on to a number of different exit routes, none more so than George and James who have joined the first team. This is testament to their hard work over the last two years but also to the credit of the pathway created here at Dorking Wanderers, both players have been given opportunities at Isthmian Youth League and Combined Counties league level with our U18s and Reserves respectively”.
Clark continued: “As an Academy we’ve now consistently produced graduates who have reached first team level for the past four years. This is a credit to both the commitment and dedication of the players and the staff, who’ve worked extremely hard to make this happen. We’re excited about the new group of youngsters and we hope that they make the most of their opportunity to excel and try to emulate both George and James’ achievements both academically and through a place in the first team squad for 2020/21".
