LOAN WATCH | AUGUST 2023
With the first month of the season complete, we take a look at how Wanderers first team players have got on out on loan...
Ollie Allen
Making his first appearance for Walton & Hersham by starting against Wanderers in the opening game of pre-season at Meadowbank, midfielder Ollie came on for Arsen Ukaj during the second half of the 1-4 away win at Harrow Borough to make his competitive debut for The Swans on August 15th. Continually part of the matchday squads since, Ollie got his first start in the eventful 5-2 win over Bracknell Town this past Bank Holiday Monday and will no doubt be pushing for another start this Saturday as Walton & Hersham enter the FA Cup at the 1st Qualifying Round stage hosting Chesham United, no doubt looking to continue a positive start to the season after promotion from the Isthmian South Central Division last term.
Cameron Black
Cameron has been ever-present at the back for Cray Wanderers so far in what has been a tough start to the season for the Isthmian Premier Division side. Without a win on the board five games into the new campaign, The Wands did face early promotion contenders Lewes, Horsham and Billericay Town in their opening trio of matches, and were unable to get off the mark last Bank Holiday Weekend against Enield Town or Hastings United. A home game against Newhaven is up next this Saturday in the FA Cup 1st Qualifying round as The Wands look to kickstart their season.
Jaevon Dyer
Winger Jaevon played a number of games for the Wanderers first team during pre-season before making the switch to Lancing FC on loan just before the opening weekend of the new campaign. After being an unused sub in the FA Cup Extra Preliminary round, Jaevon made his debut for The Lancers midway through the second half of the league opener at home to Merstham the following weekend, the hosts getting off the mark with a 1-0 win. Jaevon would play the full 90 in the next stage of the FA Cup in the Preliminary round, part of a side which won 2-3 away at Badshot Lea. Not involved in the fixtures over the Bank Holiday Weekend, Jaevon will be pushing for selection again in the cup this weekend as Lancing travel to Carshalton Athletic.
Archie Procter
Linking up with former Wanderers Head Coach Mark Beard, Archie made his debut for Eastbourne Borough on the opening day of the campaign in the 1-0 win at home to Hampton & Richmond Borough. After missing a few games Archie returned to the side for the Bank Holiday Weekend matches against Truro City and Chelmsford City, both contests ending in narrow one nil defeats. Playing in a side which includes former Wanderers and fellow defenders Sam Beard (on loan from Barnet) and Dan Quick, The Sports have not picked up a win since the opening day and as a new month begins will no doubt be looking to turn that around as soon as possible. The September schedule gets under way this Saturday with Borough hosting Weston-super-Mare at Priory Lane.
Joe Rabbetts
After initially joining Dartford on loan at the start of the season, Marc White quickly recalled Joe and included the left wing-back in the matchday squads for the games against Southend United and Solihull Moors. Looking to really get his 23/24 campaign under way and start picking up regular match minutes, Joe went back on loan last weekend and re-united with the club he enjoyed a great personal campaign with last season, Bognor Regis Town. Joe went straight into the starting line-up's as The Rocks drew 3-3 against Lewes on Saturday before defeating Canvey Island 1-3 away on Monday. Burgess Hill Town in the FA Cup awaits next as Joe looks to continue the positive start to life back at The Nye Camp.
Jack Saunders
Uniting with Wanderers Director of Football Jordan Clark at Redhill, Jack, who featured regularly for the Wanderers first team in pre-season, has very much played his part in The Lobsters getting off to a positive start to the season. Making his first start for the club in the 1-3 win at Epom & Ewell on August 15th, Jack has been frequently involved in the midfield of a team which has made a 100% winning start in the Combined Counties Premier Division so far, as well as make progress in the FA Cup, where The Lobsters have seen off Hiltop FC and Ashford Town already, and are preparing to take on Herne Bay at home in the next round this weekend.
