Dorking Wanderers Football Club Academy announces new partnership with The Priory School.

Dorking Wanderers Football Club Academy (DWFCA) and The Priory C of E School have today announced a unique and innovative collaboration for students leaving Year 11.

Collectively they have created an environment that enables players/students to develop, offering varying flexible playing opportunities, whilst providing access to high quality facilities and education. The academic and footballing partnership will see DWFCA coaching staff being responsible for providing high quality football to members of The Priory 6th Form. Priory students will be able to study a full suite of A-Level and BTEC courses for all players who wish to follow this pathway.

This partnership will create greater opportunities and choice for post-16 education. The programme will be made up of A-Level and BTEC students following their academic studies under the guidance of The Priory School teachers, with an outstanding football education syllabus being delivered by the DWFCA. Many students can access the new stadium, its state-of-the-art elite performance training facilities and possibly the first team squad during their time at the club. Places are available for both boys and girls and applications are welcome from players of all standards.

Rachel Gibb, Headteacher of The Priory School, and Jordan Clark, Director of Education and Football at DWFCA, started working together back in January of this year to get this unique partnership in Dorking finalised. Rachel said: “I am really proud that DWFCA is linking with The Priory School to start this valuable partnership, and I believe it will be of great interest and benefit to many members of our community in Mole Valley and further afield. Year 11 students have had an incredibly challenging time because of Covid-19 and may have become disillusioned about their education going forward. This could be the boost they need to engage with their education for the next two years”.

Phil Harrison, Head of Sixth Form at The Priory School commented on the wonderful opportunity for students to work with the already successful Dorking Wanderers FC. He said: “We welcome the opportunity to build this new and exciting partnership with Dorking Wanderers, providing an innovative pathway for those who want to continue their academic studies to the highest level alongside developing their football skills and an understanding of the wider football industry. The benefits will be felt across the whole school.”

Jordan Clark, Director of DWFCA commented: “Dorking Wanderers Football Club is excited to continue growing the club’s partnerships with one of the most recognised and leading schools in Mole Valley. This is a fantastic approach to engage young people in post-16 education and football. The students on the programme really do have the best of both worlds; a quality education with access to elite football and coaching”.

The partnership launches this month with an open recruitment event at Meadowbank Stadium on the 20th September (starting 4pm). To register for this event or find out more information contact Jordan Clark via or Phil Harrison via
