DORKING WANDERERS FC LADIES TEAM FORMED IN COLLABORATION WITH MOLE VALLEY GIRLS FC
After extensive planning Dorking Wanderers and Mole Valley Girls FC are delighted to today announce a new initiative for women’s football within the area.
This new and exciting collaboration sees the two community-based clubs come together to offer even more opportunities for women’s football. Mole Valley Ladies FC are bringing across their highly successful Ladies team to join forces with Dorking Wanderers FC in the South East Counties League.
Kat Browne, Director of Ladies Football at Dorking Wanderers, said: “The overall aim is to create a female hub of excellence where passionate and experienced coaches and quality footballers are supplied with excellent facilities and an ambitious set up, to rival those at the highest levels of the women’s pyramid.”
Kev Pither, Chair of MVGFC said, “By working with Dorking Wanderers at our top age group we are able to ensure that this elite group of footballers can receive additional enhanced coaching and facilities that befits a team that has the ability to represent the area at the highest level of the women’s game. We will continue, as we have done since 2010, to offer access to grassroots football to all young girls and older players within the region.”
Jordan Clark, Director of Football at Dorking Wanderers and Academy Founder said: “This new venture and pathway for females is an extremely exciting time for all involved. Our academic programme began in 2017 and we already have over 80 students. With this new doorway open to the female side of the game we will only go from strength to strength together”.
Clark continued: “For older players who can play an at elite level, but still wish to continue their education pathway, Dorking Wanderers Academy can offer a full time football programme whereby sporting qualifications can be tailored for each individual player. Not only are we dedicated to developing our female education Academy, we also welcome on trial those who don’t wish to continue in education. Ultimately it’s the hard work that will keep you here".
This venture sees MVGFC continue to build on 10 years of providing girls and women’s football in the Mole Valley area. They will continue to offer access to grassroots football to all local girls and women and support them in their ambitions as they continue playing football from 5 to 50!
The newly formed Dorking Wanderers FC Ladies Team will play in the South East County League for the 2020/21 season and MVGFC will continue their journey within the Surrey County Women’s & Girls Football League and the relevant women’s league.
