B TEAM PRE-SEASON SCHEDULE CONFIRMED
Dorking Wanderers B are pleased to announce their pre-season schedule ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.
Competing in the Southern Combination League Division One (Step 6) again next term, Ruben Gaspar's side will begin their pre-season run of games on Saturday July 1st, concluding preparations on Saturday July 29th, a week before the new campaign is expected to get under way.
The 18-team division for 23/24 will include Wanderers taking on Alfold FC, Roffey FC and Banstead Athletic, all three sides coming down from Step 5 level, whilst West Sussex side Copthorne FC, who played their home matches at Horsham FC's Camping World Community Stadium last term, join the league after being promoted from the Southern Combination Division Two as champions.
Wanderers B Pre-Season Schedule:
Saturday July 1st
Stansfeld FC (A)
1pm
Wanderers B will kick off pre-season with a trip to Chislehurst, Greater London to take on Southern Counties East Premier Division (Step 5) side Stansfeld FC, who secured a top-half finish in their league last term.
Tuesday July 4th
Capel FC (A)
7:30pm
Three days later, Wanderers are on the road again but travelling a much shorter distance to face Dorking-based Capel FC, who finished 3rd in the Southern Combination League Division Two in 22/23.
Saturday July 8th
Lingfield FC (A)
1pm
Preparations step up with a visit to Southern Combination Premier League side Lingfield FC, who faced the Wanderers first team in the 21/22 Surrey Senior Cup quarter-finals, and finished mid-table in the league last season.
Saturday July 15th
Horsham YMCA (H)
3pm
The first pre-season home game for the B team see's Horsham YMCA come to Meadowbank in the middle of the month. Like Lingfield, the Sussex side finished mid-table in the Southern Combination Premier League last season and were defeated on home soil by Wanderers B in the early stages of the Peter Bentley Trophy.
Saturday July 22nd
Moneyfields FC (H)
3pm
Hampshire based Moneyfields FC will be next up at Meadowbank for the B team, the Wessex Premier Division (Step 5) team finishing 5th in their league last season. Playing their home fixtures at Havant & Waterlooville's Westleigh Park in 22/23, the club was the former stomping ground of Wanderers current first team strikers Jason Prior and Alfie Rutherford.
Wednesday July 26th
British Airways (A)
7pm
Wanderers return to the road to face Combined Counties Division One side British Airways under the midweek lights. The Step 6 team secured a top-half finish last season and ground share at The Orchard, Bedfont with fellow CC Div One club Bedfont & Feltham.
Saturday July 29th
Colliers Wood United (A)
3pm
For the final game of pre-season Ruben Gaspar's side travel up to Combined Counties Premier Division (Step 5) side Colliers Wood United, who defeated Wanderers in the Surrey Senior Cup 1st Round last season and finished the campaign in 5th place.
