Alfie Rutherford signs for DorkingWanderers
Dorking Wanderers have today announced the signing of Striker Alfie Rutherford from Havant & Waterlooville. Rutherford, 21, joins Wanderers on a 2-year deal. He moves to the Surrey based club after four seasons at Westleigh Park, where he scored 63 league and cup goals in 162 appearances. This included 17 goals in the National League Premier in season 2018-19. The move to Dorking means that Rutherford is reunited with Ed Harris and former strike partner Jason Prior, who he forged a successful partnership with at Bognor Regis in 2015-16 with over 60 goals between them. Manager Marc White said: “I’m really excited about the signing of Alfie. He is going to become a huge fans favourite. He has a proven track record despite still only being 21 years old. Having watched Alfie for a long time I think he will fit into our club perfectly. He is a natural goal scorer who plays with an infectious tenacity”. White continued: “I appreciate the support from Havant in facilitating this move”. Alfie Rutherford said: “I absolutely loved my time at Havant and I especially enjoyed all the support I had from the fans. I did however feel that it was time for a new challenge. As everybody knows Dorking are a well-run football club with a great reputation, so I am excited to be joining them and linking up again with some of my old teammates”.
